Hello, I'm Michael. I left my role as Chief Financial Officer at GPS Capital Markets to start a company called Athena, which builds software for the office of the CFO. I've spent my career in finance — starting at the bottom as a sales intern and working my way up to CFO — helping grow GPS from a founder-led startup into a global financial firm and acheived one of Utah’s most successful private company exits. Now I'm taking those lessons and turning them into software that helps other CFOs and their teams work smarter and simpler.
Outside of work, I've called Utah home most of my life. I'm an endurance swimmer, having completed events like the English Channel relay, Bear Lake 10K, Great Salt Lake 10K, and San Francisco Bridge to Bridge 10K. I'm passionate about service and currently serve with South Valley Services and Giving Angels, both focused on helping Utah families. I'm a husband and father, with family at the center of everything I do. I read whenever life slows down enough to let me.

I founded Athena in 2025, which makes software for the office of the CFO and does outsourced CFO work for selected companies. The software is a cloud-based platform that allows the office of the CFO to streamline and automate parts of their workflow (e.g., we take things done in Excel and give it a home in the cloud).
I am Treasurer of Giving Angels. Giving Angels is a 100% volunteer-based organization passionate about helping children from low-income families. They provide basic clothing needs including socks, underwear, and hygiene items, believing that with appropriate clothing, children will perform better in school and in life.
I am currently a Board Member and former Treasurer, Finance Chair, and Executive Committee Member of South Valley Services. South Valley Services provides safe shelter and ongoing supportive services to women, men, and their children who have been impacted by domestic and sexual violence. They offer 24-hour helpline support, counseling, case management, and prevention services throughout Utah.
